COMPLETED: Zion National Park (UT)- May 2010
This was a four night, five day West to East traverse of Zion. The car was parked at the East Rim trailhead. We paid Zion Adventure Company to shuttle us to the Lee Pass Trailhead. Total miles hiked: approx. 50 miles.
Highlights: getting snowed on one night near Wildcat Canyon, Hop Valley, viewing the amazing scenery on the West Rim Trail and Walter's Wiggles (a trail down to Zion Canyon with many, many switchbacks) and a hamburger eaten mid-hike in Zion Canyon.
Pictures (l to r): view of Zion Canyon walking down Walter's Wiggles, view from West Rim Trail, Hop Valley, LeVerkin Creek, start of hike at Lee Pass Trailhead
Happily may I walk.
May it be beautiful before me.
May it be beautiful behind me.
May it be beautiful below me.
May it be beautiful above me.
May it be beautiful all around me.
In beauty is it finished.

I saw your post in another hiking blog... I love this area--I never did the trail in one hike, but have done parts of it all and parts of it multi-times. Before moving to MI, I lived in Cedar City and probably did an overnight into the Kolob area about once a year. The last trip on the east rim was in November or December and we were paking through snow and I was glad I had instep crampons when coming down into the valley--it was very icy. That's some beautiful country.
Hi Sage. I loved this Zion hike. Terrain is very diverse and what a hoot hiking into Zion Canyon with all the tourists. I had some people take my picture when they thought I wasn't looking. :) Sounds like you had lots of great hikes there. It would be fun to see Zion in winter.
